Abstract | These years, the object oriented technique has become more mature and seems can solve most of the problems in the old system. There are several methodologies have been published in the software engineering. Although the evolution of software technique is really attractive, actually not many enterprises have ever involved the new object oriented concepts into their MIS environments till now. Many MIS environments are still stayed in the domain of the structured analysis and design technique. There are still some obstacles to migrating to the object oriented world. The purpose of this thesis is to provide an object-oriented approach based on DDIDFD in software reengineering. We want to involve the mature structured techniques, i.e. DD, DFD, into the object oriented analysis. This approach is expected to give analysts a new alternative to re-implement a MIS system, and therefore to improve the existing problems, i.e. complexity, less flexibility, less extendibility, less reusability, and increasing maintenance costs, in a MIS system.. Especially for those who have already worked for many years in the structured analysis MIS environment, we hope to help them migrate to the object-oriented world easily and directly. A case study from China Steel Corporation has been taken to validate and illustrate this proposed approach. The final object model has been implemented in the object oriented programming language, Borland C++ version 3 .1 . |
