| Abstract | A lot of road accidents occur in the present world. There are lots of reason for these ac- cidents. Motorcycle accidents are one type of accident which can be seen on the road. It is responsible for considerable percentage of road accidents. The majority of deaths due to motorcycle accidents are caused by head injuries. It has been observed that severity of a non-helmet riding motorcycle accidents are greater than that with a helmet worn scenario. In this study mainly focused on improving safety of motorcycle riders when the accident was occurred. But the thing is how to improve the safety of motorcycle rider who faced the road accident. So from this study mainly identify most appropriate factor for improving the safety of motorcycle riders in Sri Lanka and identify what are the influencing factors for above mentioned specific factor. Finally propose recommended ways of wearing helmet for the helmeted riders in Sri Lanka. Besides by studying the reasons for the reluctance of using helmets, necessary alternatives and solutions will be given to the motorcycle riders to increase the use of helmets |
