AbstractAsian Institute of Technology (AIT) situated in Pathumthani, Thailand is turning into a green campus under a project titled green campus initiative project. Here to green the campus five factors are considered and they are education, energy, solid waste, transportation and water. This study was carried out to state their current status in AIT and to examine the current sustainable strategies practiced in AlT. Although education and transportation sectors and much greener already, solid waste, energy and water consumption can be reduced with the help of some activities. Of the total amount of water consumed in AIT 26.5% are water leakages which is unfortunate. Therefore the water supply network in AIT should be repaired, in order to reduce the water consumption per capita which is higher than Bangkok and Asian consumption per capita. The recycling percentage of solid waste produced in AIT per annum is also much lesser than Thailands national target. Thus it is important to achieve the same target inside campus in order to make AIT green. Energy consumption can also be well reduced by replacing the old systems in AIT. It was identified that the major issue for most of the problems is the old systems installed in early 1980s have not been replaced or repaired. Therefore this study includes suggestion to improve the situation and also future plans made by the green campus initiation project committee to make AIT green.
