AbstractThe earthquakes are the most threatening natural disasters that humans face. The earthquakes are unpredictable and unstoppable disasters and they can cause the damage and collapse of human structures. In Myanmar, The high seismic vulnerability of buildings is one of the weakness points that can result in damage of buildings and structures after the earthquake. Thus, some predicts that high intensity earthquake will probably be occurred in the near fu- ture in Myanmar. In 2012, there was a huge earthquake that hit the Thabeikkyin, Myanmar with a magnitude of 6.8. Due to this earthquake 201 houses and 45 pagodas were totally col- lapsed or partially damaged. In Myanmar, the seismic design criteria are not even considered in well-designed buildings. Since most of the buildings in Thabeikkyin are non-engineered RC buildings, almost all of the buildings seriously damaged. One storey RC building is se- lected and analyzed with three different analysis methods. Although this building was built up of reinforced concrete frame structures on one-side and timber frame structures on the other, the brick-nogged building part is neglected in this study, as timber frame structure cannot be analyzed in Etabs.
