AbstractThere are mean techniques to prevent the structure from earthquake disaster. In this study , diagonal bracing and friction damper are using to connect the structure to reduce the story responses during earthquake exciting. Both medium and high rises stories are with 6 bays in this project. The stories are assuming to be locat4ed at the region of California. These structures are being affected by Loma Prieta earthquake, Northridge earthquake and San Fernando earthquakes. Story displacement, story drift, story acceleration and story shear are considered as comparing parameters and 7 optimum slip loads are using in this project. Friction dampers are being putted in 4 different bracing location(D13,D16,D25 and D34) and ETABS software is using for modeling the frame. In this study, the main point is to focus on the effective of bracing location with diagonal friction damper and the second point is to compare with Chevron friction damped frame.
