AbstractThis study concerns estimating the manufacturing lead time, which is not computed automatically in MRPII. The problem of estimating and improving the manufacturing lead time for shop floor of Viettronic DongDa Company (Hanoi, Vietnam) is investigated as a case study. The solution of the problem is found through using CAN-Q queueing software and an algorithm, which is written to interface between CAN-Q and data files in MICRO MAX, to estimate the manufacturing lead time of the finished product (television in this study). At the same time, this estimate is compared with the lead time in simulation and the difference between them is analysed in this study.
