Abstract | This study uses discrete time simulation package SIMPLE++ to evaluate system performance of an assembly line of the Electricity Measuring Instrument Company in Hanoi, Vietnam. From weaknesses detected by simulation, a number of alternative was generated and evaluated to point out the most satisfactory one. Major aims are to reduce manufacturing cost, increase throughput, reduce number of work-in-process and improve balance among workstations. Multicriterion decision making technique is adopted along with simulation for selecting alternative. Statistic behaviors of the simulation model were taken into account in multicriterion decision model. The chosen option brings a significant improvement to the system performance of the production line. |
