AbstractAn ex1stmg plasticity code is incorporated into the Microsoft Windows environment, by integrating with a graphical user interface (GUI) written in Visual Basic 4.0. Also certain modifications and additions are done to the existing code where necessaiy. The result is a package that can take full advantage of GUI under Windows95 environment and at the same time still retain the effectiveness and the reliability of the legacy code. The purpose of the software is to help the user understand the basic concepts of plasticity with GUI facility. WPLastic is a one-dimensional plasticity software, that can be used to obtain the stress history given the strain history and vice-versa. Basic input options of onedimensional plasticity are Linear Exponential Model, Ramberg-Osgood Model and Piecewise Linear Model. The hardening rules available for loading-unloading are isotropic hardening rule, kinematic hardening rule, mixed hardening rule and independent hardening rule. The options for plastic hardening parameter are equivalent plastic strain, plastic work and plastic strain. WPlaZone is a two-dimensional plasticity software, that can be used to obtain the spread of plasticity due to mode-I, mode-II, mixed mode (combination of mode-I and mode-II) and mode-III crack near the crack tip. Basic options and input components of the this software are yield criteria and type of crack mode.
