Abstract | Project management related many significant functions that need substantial attention and understanding from all project participants. In all functions, cost control is one of the most important functions that can affect the successful project execution. Although there may be other important project goals, cost remains a universal measurement of success. The principal requirements of cost control system is to provide accurate and timely cost information to project management. To increase efficiency in controlling. project cost, commercial database application, such as Microsoft Access, can be applied to develop a powerful cost control software with a minimum amount of programming to automation of integrating, summarizing, and analyzing the data generated by field and office personnel. Based on the basis procedures of cost control system, the developed application can be classified into four main modules which are composed of establishing baseline cost module, collecting field cost data module, analyzing and forecasting module, and job status reporting module. In addition, earned value technique is the main tool applied in analyzing process to analyze cost variance and performance index for indicating the cost status of the project. |
