AbstractAs life generally requires one to be active on a day to day basis, hemiplegia and paraplegia which are two common types of paralysis which would prevent those who suffer from it to live life to the fullest. The phenomenon known as neuroplasticity shows that a different region on the human brain can be trained to take over the neural tasks that the damaged section was previously responsible for. To achieve this however, the patient has to undergo intense rehabilitation during which there is margin for error. To overcome the errors that rehabilitation processes have today, robots are designed to be precise and safe for patients to use. Todays rehabilitation robots are big, bulky and cannot be moved around which means the patient has to come to the machine. This project instead, aims to make a rehabilitation robot that comes to the patient and which would focus on the rehabilitation of the knee and ankle joint. With both a passive mode and an active mode and each equipped with three different speed levels with a PD control to ensure that everything runs smoothly, this system should suffice for a wide range of patients with not as much supervision from rehabilitation therapists who are tired from working long hours every day. There is also an Android GUI that communicates with the system via Bluetooth where the rehabilitation parameters can be modified and a database of all the patients rehabilitation is saved.
