Abstract | Inspection and maintenance of high voltage power line cables is a challenging task. Automat- ing these kind of situations is a difficult task due to various obstacles found in the power line. Due to these reasons many scientists and other personnel have overlooked the need to auto- mate such scenarios. This project proposes a new concept and builds an autonomous robot that could travel along a power line avoiding by actuating its arms accordingly. The robot also could inspect the power line and differentiate various types of defects and alert a re- mote user by using SMS technology. This system uses WiFi for communication and using a graphic user interface a user could control the robot from a limited distance, in this inter- face a live video feed of the power line could is being broadcasted. In doing so the robot is successful in inspecting and travelling along the power line autonomously. |
