Abstract | Robotics and Manipulation is rapidly taking over the industries around the world. An in- creasing number of industries carry out mass productions. Needless to say, mass production and robotics go hand in hand. More and more people are being replaced by robots. It is now becoming essential that engineers and technical students must have a sound grasp of robotics before they enter the work environment. Unfortunately most industrial robots are expensive. By introducing low cost robots to schools and learning institutes it is possible to give students interested in the field an early exposure. In this research we hope to develop a low cost 5 degrees of freedom manipulator for a study environment. The robot is easily programmable. It obtains user input in terms of x, y, z coordinates or angles to Python GUI. Given the target coordinates, the robot is able to come up with a feasible solution using a method called Forward And Backward Reaching Inverse Kinematics from a previous study. The solution will be displayed on the screen. So students can check and make sure the robot isn’t getting in the way of anything before asking it to move. Angles are converted in to steps and sent via the arduino to the motors. |
