Abstract | It is known that the advancement of mechanical and electronic engineering has aided much in eliminating human involvement in monotonous and repetitive actions in the simplest of tasks, some of which however are overlooked. This report focuses on such an area of un- derutilized research which is automated gift wrapping. The primary task of the project is to autonomously detect the dimensions of a given package and thereafter wrap it by means of a PID motor controlled dual axis (x-y) end effector, aligning and rotation unit and a wrap- ping paper dispenser unit all of which are sequentially and synchronously maneuvered by a custom written algorithm. |
