Abstract | An evaluation study between two multicarrier transmissions system is presented: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based on cyclic prefix and Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) based on Filter bank architecture. We first compared and evaluated these two schemes under the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, and then by combining these analytical expressions with the characteristic of the Rayleigh channel, Bit Error Rate (BER) analysis under Rayleigh Channel are also able to be obtained. Closed form expres- sions of the BER for both two methods are derived and validated in this research. The results showed the performance of these two methods comparison when they are in the same condi- tion. However, the FBMC technique has less out of band power leakage as a result of lower side lobes. |
