AbstractWireless indoor positioning systems have become very mainstream these days. These sys- tems have been advanced used in many applications such as locating or real-time tracking of physical properties in the indoor environment precisely, so the requirement for indoor localization services has become important in some of the marketplaces. Moreover, indoor localization addresses the weakness of Global Positioning System (GPS) inside an indoor buildings. Based on this, this project aims to build an indoor localization using Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). In order to do so, we used the Wi-Fi fingerprinting method and dif- ferent positioning methods; Least Squares Estimation (LSE) and Weighted Least Squares Estimation (WLSE) to estimate the location of a user. The main objective is to compare the related methods by accuracy of the location and do the error calculation to evaluate the performance.
