AbstractThere are rapid expansions in Light Emitting Diodes (LED) fabrication in last decade. Vis- ible Light Communication (VLC) attained great attention, due to that developments. Dura- bility, efficiency, and long life time of LED make them a hopeful residential lighting tool. Mechanism of visual light, by means of LEDs has been massively considered for academia. The challenges and fundamentals in VLC systems are studied in this capstone project. Some basics of optical communication, such as signal, receiver, transmitter, message, and links also are reviewed. Furthermore, characteristics of channel modes in VLC systems are analyzed. In addition the theoretical analysis of channel modelling is described in detail. VLC chan- nel modeling significantly depends on environment. In this project indoor and underwater environments are taken into account.
