AbstractBit-Error Rate Testing is an important test to study the link performance any data transmitting system. Fiber Optic testers are used to measure the signal loss or change through a fiber optic cable .It can be using in telephone, networking, telecommunication and medical imaging applications. In fiber optic network, whether installing new cable, or troubleshooting existing cable, cable testing always plays an important role in the process. Optical power meter, which is widely used, for power measurement and loss testing is well known to us. Today, we are going to talk about this familiar and essential fiber optic tester in details. In this report, BER Tester using CMLs EV9830 Evaluation board and PE0003 evaluation kit along with small form-factor pluggable (SFP) and 1km fiber optic cable will be used.
