Abstract | Vietnam which has joint ASEAN and with it AFTA is feeling the effects of globalization. AFTA will create benefit for ASEAN countries in the long term. However, with a weak economy, Vietnam will receive more negative impacts from this Free Trade Area in the transition period. Particularly, in the industry which textile is one of the fifteen items in the fast track of CEPT scheme, and because the textile industry currently receives some protection from the government in terms of finance, import-export taxes, import quota etc. As a result, textile industry will be inevitably experience adverse consequences in the near future. One major question is whether Vietnamese in the textile industry realized these implication of AFT A? The evidence suggested that they are not and this industry as well as similar industries in Vietnam which are not competitive will be negatively affected by AFT A. |
