AbstractThis research study presents the general ways in planning a part of the fixed line telecommunication networks namely National Networks. General methodologies on planning National Telecommunication Networks are reviewed first. It includes traffic forecast and the optimization of network configuration. Then, Network Planning tool PLANITU developed by the experts from International Telecommunication Union are studied. The application of this software package on planning a Network based on the existing National Networks in the eastern seaboard in the Kingdom of Thailand are studied in detail. In order to guarantee the accuracy of this case study, the reliability and sensitivity study are performed. Finally general conclusions on the case study and recommendations for the National Network Planning are given.
