AbstractIn recent years, expert reasoning applications are increasingly developed as the components in large software systems. The features of object-oriented software engineering can be exploited to develop more robust system with less development cost and time. Most of the existing models for the integration of rule-based and object-oriented paradigms do not treat rule as an object. Other models either dictate a new 00 language or extend an existing one, for their implementation. This research is conducted to develop such a model that can support object-oriented representation of the heuristic knowledge, along with considering its implementation in the existing 00 languages. ORULE is the purposed model that is represented in this research work. It treats the rule as separate independent objects. In order to interpret these rule objects, it describes a simplified inference mechanism that can be implemented in any 00 language. The object modeling technique is used in this research to describe the model. The model is validated by implementing a subset of the Course Advisory System at AIT.
