AbstractThe thesis is Designing Considerations for Underground Substation in Pudong, Shanghai. The main objectives of this study is to analyze the possibility of building the substation and design an underground substation in Pudong. Shanghai, the biggest city in China, the land is limitation for future used. The underground substation has more advantages than normal substations. It is suitable to adopt the underground substation at urban area in Shanghai. In this study, the 220 kV underground substation is designed to meet the data collection. There are three main transformers that will be installed at the underground substation in the future. The capacity of main transformer is 120 MVA. The output voltage is 35 kV, ingoing is 6 and outgoing is 30 for future use. At the first stage, two transformers will be used, ingoing is 4 and outgoing is 20. There are overall designs in this study. The methodology is given below: to choose main transformer, calculate short current, select main electrical equipment, bus arrangement and main transformer protection, layout, and substation electricity etc. The GIS system is the best electrical equipment used in the underground substation. It has a lot of advantages than other electrical equipments. The details are discussed in this study.
