AbstractThis paper presents a sh01t term optimization scheme for the economics dispatch of supply steam and electricity through cogeneration process. The price of selling and purchasing electricity within Small Power Producer (SPP) regulation as well as the cost evaluation of satisfying each steam and electricity demand are represented into the model. The primary objective of the optimization is for deciding optimum operation of cogeneration corresponding to both energy demand in production and electricity demand in utility system to maximize benefit of electricity supply. Depending on cost parameters and electricity price, the results of optimization show that optimum operation result in selling electricity during partial peak period. Unlike other periods, no electricity is sold or bought from EGAT due to high energy generation cost. The optimization scheme is based on linear programming (LP) including with technique of piecewise linear approximations. This technique is applicable of handling constraints which are non-linear functions. The methodology and solution technique in this study can be applicable in a wide category of similar cogeneration steam power plants.
