Abstract | India is definitely one of the most lucrative investment destinations in the world. Per capital income, consumer spending and middle-class population are on an upscaling trend. There are several reasons on how Indian economy is flourishing in recent few years. Among all the sectors of the economy, retail is one of the most important sectors in India. At multiple levels, Indian retail is evolving year after year, which has actually led India to be a top destination for international firms. Experts suggest that the size of retail sector in India is expected to cross the unreal volume of $1 trillion soon. The growth rate of organized retail in India is understood to be the highest in the world. Although the charm of India’s retail economy is unreal, there exist some market entry barriers for international firms. Based on interviews with retail experts and bureaucrats, this paper studies such impediments that are existent in India. A careful analysis of ideas and evidence is done so that this study can assist MNCs to decide on how to enter India and establish rewarding business strategies. Carefully constructed is the recommendation section where some suggestive ideas are discussed so that investors could develop proper strategy while entering the organized retail sector of India. |
