AbstractLike a miniature financial institutes, saving cooperatives are developed as source of capitals to promote wealth and improve the standard of living in Thailand. It is an investment choice with the tax- free benefits and the supported welfares for each member within saving cooperatives. However, as the financial problems of saving cooperatives were arisen in the recent years with the accusation of mismanagement, fraud, and management override, the members became more aware of the risks from investing in saving cooperatives. Nevertheless, the question is that how appropriate is the risk perception of the members. By this opportunity to conduct a research, EGAT Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited as one of the largest saving cooperatives in Thailand is selected as the focus for the study of this research. This research aims to study the members’ risk perception of EGAT Saving Cooperatives Limited. All data are based on the primary data by gathering the data from conducting the questionnaires with members of EGAT Saving Cooperatives Limited. The research measures the risk perception based on the responses from the respondents to the scenario-based questions, including the inquiry of their opinions to score the level of risk and rank the risks presumed from the investment. The finding of this research indicated that the risk perception of the members of EGAT Saving Cooperatives Limited are varied based on their wealth, knowledge, age, and attitude. They are also sensitive or having a very high concern about the risks related to fraud, other cooperatives’ bankruptcy, mismanagement.
