AbstractThe concept of entrepreneurship is spreading all over the world and gaining popularity but only few women are able to capture the attention and move forward in the field of entrepreneurship. It is difficult task for women to cope with stereotypical practices prevailed in the Nepalese society and make the society believe in their capacity. Lack of entrepreneurial education, training programs and support from society restricts women of Kathmandu Valley to start their own venture. The main aim of this study is to identify the factors that enhances the intention of young women to start their own venture and create favorable environment to encourage entrepreneurial activity. This study uses both qualitative and quantitative method to know the factors affecting the intention of young women and compare those factors with experienced young women entrepreneurs. Structured questionnaire and semi structured interview are used to collect relevant data and are analyzed using SPSS software. This study confirms the role of education and training facilities to develop entrepreneurial intention among young women and the impact of socio-cultural norms and beliefs in setting up a new enterprise. The support from family and society by reducing the prevailed stereotypes in Nepalese society enhances the operation of enterprise effectively
