AbstractForest cover loss is becoming a major concern in the conservation and rehabilitation of the environment. This study aims to find out the forest cover loss in Luc Ngan watershed and to create a protection map for this area. This research presents a descriptive profile of the loss of the forest cover in the past 8 years (1984 - 1992) in Luc Ngan and analysis of correlationship of forest cover loss and its causes. Remotely sensed data (landsat TM) satellite imageries integrated with geographical information system (GIS) formed the basis for mapping forest cover of the study area. In this study, three satellite images were used in forest loss analysis while the GIS was used for watershed conservation mapping.
