AbstractThe ISO 9000 series of Quality Management standards, with over 70,000 registrations in 1995 around the world, is used by organizations as a model for a quality management system. Now make way for the new kid arriving on the block, the ISO 14000 series of the standards, the model for an environmental management system. The new environmental management standards are expected to publish by the end of 1996. The ISO 9001 Quality Management standard and ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard are used for registration purpose. There are an effort from technical committees developed these quality and enviromnental standard to harmonize between them. This work studied to a possibility of integration between ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 by examining the requirements of both standards. In order to be applicable to the real world, it proposed a method to expand the requirements of ISO 9001 to cover ISO 14001 's requirements and be expected to serve as a useful guidance for ISO 9001 (ISO 9002) certified organizations wanting to get ISO 14001 ce1tification. In addition, this work will also cover the study ofISO 14000's implementation project.
