AbstractThis study was performed with the intention of identifying the hydrological and meteorological variability of Songkhram River Basin, Thailand. Meteorological variability was repre- sented by 6 variables; rainfall (8 stations), maximum and minimum temperature (5 stations each), relative humidity (5 stations), evaporation (3 stations) and sunshine hours (3 stations) and hydrological variability was represented by discharge (2 stations). Exploratory trend analysis was done using time-series plots and spatial plots while statistical trend analysis was done using the non-parametric method of Mann- Kendalls test and trend was quantified by Sens slope. As the first objective, meteorological variability of the basin was analysed and it was observed that increasing trends are present for rainfall, minimum and maximum temperature and relative humidity while decreasing trends could be seen for evaporation and sunshine hours. Also, positive correlations could be observed between temperature and relative hu- midity and evaporation and sunshine hours. Identification of trends in hydrological variability was the second objective and it was found that, the trends present are insignificant. The third objective was the spatial and temporal variability of climate indices where 12 indices for rainfall, 8 indices for temperature and 3 indices each for relative humidity, evaporation and sunshine hours were calculated and analysed. Results indicated that more consecutive dry periods occurred in the latter part of the study period.
