AbstractVietnam is experiencing the transition period of approaching market economy. Economic development in the recent years have made Vietnam recogize its lack of adequate business managers who can deal with competition locally and internationally. Training and retraining managers has become an urgent need for Vietnam, at present and in the near future, for the country's being more attractive to foreign investment and economic development. This study aims at detemining what kind of managerial training needed by domestic and foreign businesses. Then taining modules can be custom designed and targeted to fit the needs of diiferent industries and branches.By this way, the effective use of scarce resources can be maximized and the most critical be addressed first. The three main economic sectors in Vietnam - state-owned sector, private sector, and foreign investment sector - have different needs and different approaches in gaining management skills and elements of market economy. In general, there are three groups of managers who need to be retrained such as • The first group consists of people who have been trained in command economics; • The second group is made up of managers who have had hands-on technical experience but who don't have much management knowledge; • The third group would be people who have not had any training whatsoever but who have just picked up what knowledge they could along the way. Pricing are suggested for different target customers in the economic sectors, and promotion mix are somehow suggested for SEAMEO' s entry into Vietnam.
