Abstract | The number of foreign investment projects and joint-venture companies has increased significantly after the Law on Foreign Investment in 1987. Many projects get successful harvests, yet a lot others get failures. There are a range of reasons for these failures. The most important is ineffective leadership in the multicultural business context. This research aims to identify the required leadership skills and characteristics, and managerial behaviors for successful multicultural leaders. Attempts are also made to propose guidelines for improving effective multicultural leadership. The guidelines suggest that in order to become excellent leaders, the multicultural managers should emphasize open communication with people, establishing people's trust, motivating employees, building effective team work, being awareness of the environment, and training orientation. |
