Abstract | A flow net is a graphical solution to the equations of steady groundwater flow and it represents patterns of how water behaves underground. Understanding the concepts of the flow net can be quite tricky if one does not have a grasp of knowledge on how it works. A lot of guess work are included in generating a flow net to solve certain seepage problem and visualization is the ground work in drawing flow nets. This paper gives the necessary tool to understand the basic concept of groundwater flow by doing an electrical analogy to make it easier to visualize for beginners and compare the flow nets from analogy with flow nets from a computer analysis, SEEP/W Software. SEEP/W is a part of GeoStudio software bundle for doing numerical analysis in Soil Mechanics. The software provides not only visual aid in comparing flow nets but also necessary data required for comparison. In this paper, the total head values were calculated or gathered from the flow nets from both Electrical Analogue Model and SEEP/W Model for the sake of comparison for the flow nets. |
