AbstractThe seismic hazard evaluation of the offshore platform includes probabilistic seismic hazard analyses and the dynamic response analyses. Geological, geophysical, seismological, and geotechnical data of the study region were collected. Based on the site condition and a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis model, the man-made accelerogram on bedrock is synthesized. By using the equivalent linear method, the seismic site response analyses is computed by inputting the accelerogram. The uncertainties of the acceleration attenuation relationships and the seismic potential sources affect the results of the seismic hazard evaluation. In addition, there are a quantitative evaluation of liquefaction potential at the study. The accelerograms from several actual earthquakes in the U.S. and Japan was used to verify the analysis results by synthetic accelerogram. It is found that the peak acceleration was larger than that by synthetic accelerogram at the same soil conditions and the same peak acceleration inputting. It will be a research project to improve the method of synthetic accelerogram. The effects of the uncertainties of the acceleration attenuation relationships and the seismic potential sources are not large, but the effects of the seismic potential sources depends on the seismic parameters of potential sources. Liquefaction is not likely at the study site using the synthetic seismogram, but it is possible if using data from the actual earthquake whose accelerogram is different with the synthetic accelerogram.
