AbstractThis research study is expected to develop an object-oriented branch version subsystem of a Management Information System (MIS) in a distributed client/server computing environment. It carries out a detailed analysis of existing system requirements for developing a MIS. Based on specific characteristices and requirements of the Shipping Equipment Information System (SEIS), all kinds of equipment operations and movements are treated as objects and classified into class. Both structural and behavioral aspects are taken into account. As the maintenance requirements at branch site, the system is implemented in Borland C++ under the frame work of object-oriented paradigm on a database platform. Due to the geographically distributed processing of the SEIS, the system is highly portable and can be installed under various operating system. A real time remote procedure calling for up-to-date info1mation transmission also is involved in the system.
