Abstract | Information is a national resource whose promotion and use requires guidance and initiative through policy development. The political, economic, social and technological development of Vietnam requires it. This study addresses: 1) the information access parameters in Vietnam; 2) the need for an information policy in Vietnam; 3) and the issues and challenges to be addressed in an information policy. This study describes the Vietnam information infrastructure in detail by examining information sector from a supply, demand, and environment perspective. Information providers and information seekers are surveyed on various descriptive factors. The role of the government in the development of the sector is described within the operating environment. The results of these study are used to draft recommendations to the policy makers and suppliers, who are the main forces deciding the development on the information sector in the future. |
