AbstractHerbivorous silver barb (Puntius gonionotus) was cultured with two Indian major carps rohu (Labeo rohita) and mrigal (Cirrhina mrigala). The study was conducted to evaluate the individual performance and overall yield 9f silver barb with two e~ es and three species polyculture in low (30 fish/20m ) and density (40 fish/ 20m ). The experiment was cond~ ted for a period of 97 days in black nr lon net-pen covering an area of 4x5 Ill and 10 of each was fixed in four (400 m ) earthen ponds. The ponds were fertilized wi t h urea (N) and triple superphosphate (P) at the rate of 2N:1P for all ponds. Rice bran was the low-cost supplementary feed and was fed to the fish at 13 bodyweight once a day. In high-density polyculture performs significantly better than monoculture. Individual performance of silver barb is better in two species polyculture with rohu than with mrigal. The highest combined net fish yield was obtained from high-density three species polyculture which was 8906 kg/ha/year. The highest economic profitability was obtained from high density three species polyculture of TK=3946.60 is equivalent to Thai Baht 263 1.06 (Taka 1 . 00 = 1 .50 Baht)
