Abstract | This study examined the level of job satisfaction and the factors that influenced job satisfaction among commercial bank employees in Nepal. This paper is based upon primary data which was collected using survey methodology. Structured questionnaire was developed using Likert type scales questions. The data was obtained from 235 employees working in commercial banks of Nepal who responded to the survey. To fulfill the objectives of the study, statistical techniques such as multiple regression analysis, correlation analysis, descriptive analysis and Cronbach's alpha have been used. The study demonstrated that, 60.3% of variation in job satisfaction is explained by age, gender, marital status, educational level, pay, promotion, supervision, rewards and recognition, job security, relationship with co-workers', training, working environment and employee participation. The major factors that affected job satisfaction of employees working in commercial banks of Nepal are pay, promotion, relationship with co-workers', training and working environment where, promotion has the greatest impact on Job satisfaction. Other factors such as supervision, job security, employee participation and rewards and recognition showed no positive influence on job satisfaction even though they were positively correlated with job satisfaction. The employees stated that their overall satisfaction level is ranging from moderate to high. In context of Nepal, this study is one of the first to examine job satisfaction in the banking industry. |
