Abstract | This study aims to investigate the effect of the role of family, human capital, social capital and government support services on women entrepreneurial start-up decisions in the Province of Bukidnon, Philippines. The study employed qualitative approach based on purposive and convenience sampling, data was collected via face-to-face interviews from 27 women entrepreneurs and content analysis was used where the findings reveal that husband's support/consent, income level and age of children were primary considerations. Past experiences were given much importance rather than their education level in terms of human capital. In the area of social capital, less emphasis was given to personal and business networks. Lastly, government support services have no effect for most women respondents in their start-up decisions but has great impact after start-ups. Also, the study aims to evaluate the effect of family, human capital and social capital in accessing available services where almost all ofthem responded that their capital (family, human, social) status does not matter towards access to these services. Indeed, the study is the first one to investigate the effect of these four factors putting Bukidnon in context. |
