AbstractThe study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Neem coated urea on the growth and yield of sweet corn variety "lDMR" in acid sulphate soil under in·igation. The results of the study revealed that there are no significant differences between three kinds of fertilizers: Neem coated urea, Urea, Ammonium Phosphate. The date of gennination, flowering, tasseling, hruvesting were the srune for all three treatments and 5 levels of nitrogen. The number of leaves, the height of the plant, the number of cob/ha and the weight of cobs were not significantly different for the tlu·ee kinds of fertilizers but they were different for different levels of nitrogen. These chru·acteristics of sweet com were low at the control treatment but increased with the treatment of 50 kgN/ha applied. There were no significant differences at the levels from 50 kgN/ha to 200 kgN/ha. The yield was not different for Neem coated urea, Urea and Amophos. The yield showed significant difference on the control treatment and the treatment of 50kgN/ha applied. The yield did not increase from the treatment 50kgN/ha to the treatment 200kgN/ha. Sweet corn supplied with Urea at 100 kgN/ha has given the highest of net return under the condition prevailed in the location.
