AbstractThis thesis focuses on strategy concept and its application to a construction company in Vietnam. A suggested model of strategic planning process will be created and the Bridge Construction Company No.7 (BRICO 7) will be analyzed as an example. Analyzing the external environment and assessing the internal diagnosis of BRICO 7 by using Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) analysis method is the most important step of the planning process. The above step is to find major factors affecting the target company. These are the foundation to identify strategic alternatives and to choose the suitable one for the company's production strategy in the future. A strategic plan is set through the strategic planning process. The study is based on available data and information of the whole economic environment, parent corporation (UNIBRICO), especially the data of the target company. The chosen strategies correspond with the growth rate of the target company in the past (4 years) and at the current time, e.g. applied trend technique, so it is considered feasible. Additionally, these strategies are set up for step by step implementation to improve the target company's operation according to its current situation and ability. Corresponding to the growing trend of the economy of Vietnam as well as increasing demand on the Vietnamese construction industry. It is hoped that this thesis will be a contribution to the country.
