AbstractElectric Vehicle plays an important role in contributing to the green world. It is very important to determine the scope of this type of vehicle in the future. This research helps to determine the customer's perception towards an electrically powered vehicle called E rickshaw. This EV serves as a public transportation service for short distances. This is a qualitative study which is based upon the Indian market context in a city known as Guwahati. E rickshaws are prohibited in certain areas, so this study assists to analyze adoption rate of the vehicle if the restrictions are withdrawn from those areas. This study determines that commuters in areas where E-Rickshaw services are not available are missing the opportunity of having better short distance transportation services. This thesis solely focuses on the benefits for the local community. The researcher has used the method of survey questionnaire and interview sessions to identify the current problems and most important characteristics of an ideal transportation service according to passengers who do not have access to E rickshaws. It is important for E rickshaw to solve or ease the most common current problems and possess the common ideal characteristics of public transportation in order to get adopted in the near future. In the survey, customers ranked their current short distance transportation services. The researcher collected further data on different commuters' perception and perspectives towards E rickshaw and other alternative services by interview sessions. This helped the study to determine the adoption rate of E rickshaw and the reasons behind it. On the whole, the study suggests how E-Rickshaws can be more user-friendly in order to increase the rate of adoption in the future.
