Abstract | The purpose of this research is to examine the factors affecting the adoption of banking channel in Nepal and to observe its relationship (if any) with the beliefs associated with the channel. A questionnaire was developed based on the similar research conducted in Hong Kong. A total of 215 response were collected from the bankers and bank customers of Nepal. Further, statistical tools have been applied to analyse the data. The results showed that mobile banking is the most adopted banking channel in Nepal, followed by internet banking, branch banking and ATM. The level of adoption and beliefs about the channels were highly significant with mobile and internet banking only. Similarly, the demographic features of the respondent were strong determinants of the adoption of the banking channel. Also, the theory of reasoned action is less applicable to branch banking and A TM; since customers are habituated to use these channels. The results of this research allow bank managers and marketing department with some valuable insight which will help them attract and retain bank customers. Along with that, which aspect of the banking channel needs to be improved are suggested. This research contributes to the literature on banking channel adoption in Nepal along with the banking behaviour of its customers. |
