Abstract | A refined arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation is developed to describe the sloshing phenomena in a rectangular tank which is horizontally excited by an oscillatory motion. Then the Newmark time integration family is employed for the improvement and the stability of the present algorithm. Numerical examples show the validity of the present algorithm for prediction of the large-amplitude sloshing which depends on the size of time steps. The present algorithm also shows the ideal phenomenon of sloshing response which with no consideration for damping effects due to the boundary layer along fluid-structure surface. |
