Abstract | The emphasis of this study is to examine environmental issues rising from the industrialization process in Vietnam to assess the effectiveness of environmental protection policy and institutional framework of the country. The awareness of people and its influence on environmental protection activities is also discussed. Apart from environmental impacts, the possible contribution of foreign investment and technology transfer is examined and recommendation for introducing environmental insurance and the role of environmental consultants into Vietnam as the best solution to resolve the limitation of environmental management expertise and investment is proposed. For further environmental management, the study suggests for in depth study on establishing suitable and strong legislation and legal system towards environmental protection of Vietnam, developing method to handle environmental risks of foreign investment and technology transfer, and how to introduce and benefit from environmental insurance and consultant business. |
