AbstractAny country whether developing or developed needs raw materials to keep its industry funtioning and developing. So is the case in Pakistan. Germany as a leading developed country has recycled or recyclable plastics and paper as raw materials, which can be imported into Pakistan to feed her plastics and paper indusrty and its consumers. It is much easier for German firms to sell their waste, then to recycle it themselves. Shahid Enterprise (Pvt.) Ltd., an exporter of textile products to Germany feels that their exists an opportunity for it and its representative company in Germany to import these essentail raw materials into Pakistan. The recent shortage and price hikes in the international market of these materials has made the import of these products into Pakistan a highly potential venture. SEL with its representative company in Germany has a distinctive competence over other importers in terms of securing the supply and selling it in Pakistan. In this study, research is carried out in both Germany and Pakistan to identify the products which SEL could import into Pakistan and a procurement and marketing plan is prepared for the import and sale of these selected products. The products selected mainly included Polyethylene, Polypropylene, and Polyvinylchloride in both recycled and recyclable form and various types of box board in paper waste. The supply sources of these products in Germany are identified in the study and so are the end-users or utililizers of these products in Pakistan. The suppliers are mainly waste specialist companies which collect the waste from various manufacturers in E.U., while the end-users are mainly recyclers or producers of products utililizing these materials as raw material. Recycling of paper and plasticsis a very profitable venture and is the need for both present and future times and also a source of cheaper and equally suitable raw material. Moving into this line of business further would provide Shahid Enterprises with a highly potential opportunity.
