AbstractThe study was performed in fe11ile ponds during high and low standing stock of phytoplankton. Automated monitoring system was used to measure all data and recorded in a data logger. The maximum quantum efficiency of photosynthesis ( max) and light absorption ability of chlorophyll (Kc) were calculated. Kc and max were 0.028 m2 mg·1 Chl and 0.018 mole 0 2 Ein·1 absorbed, respectively. Kc and max from this study were different from most literature which done in lake, reservoir, ocean, or pure culture. Yield estimates GPP model which used observed Kc and max to calculate were approximate 50% lower than value from literature.
