Abstract | An automatic control system designed earlier was modified and redesigned to integrally control the temperature and relative humidity inside the mushroom house. The air state inside the house were measured by a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor. A controller processed these values and sent control signals to corresponding correcting units. A heating unit and a water spraying unit corrected temperature. The water spraying unit and a ventilating unit maintained desired relative humidity. A blower unit circulated processed air inside the house. The study on the microclimate inside the house without control found that the air state was affected by heat transfer mainly through the house roof. Big differences of temperature and relative humidity were found in a vertical direction. In a horizontal plane, these differences were small. Experiments show that the system could generally fulfill control requirements. The low limit of the desired temperature (Tl) was controlled satisfactorily. The upper limit of the temperature (Tu) was controlled except when the ambient temperature exceeded 3 °C or more than Tu. The relative humidity was controlled within its optimal range. The circulating unit reduced variation of the temperature and relative humidity within the house. The desired temperature and relative humidity ranges were set according to the biological requirement of the mushroom production easily. The control system developed in this study can be directly used on small mushroom farms. |
