AbstractThe objectives of this research consist of 3 objectives is (1) Estimate the plastic waste generation in Vientiane capital, (2) Investigate the plastic waste management and identify the rate of recycling of plastic waste in Vientiane capital and (3) Assess the opportunities of waste management and its challenge in Vientiane capital. To assessment the practical on plastic waste management and examine the people’s attitude in Vientiane. The study focused on assessment and investigates both private sector and government-owned involve in plastic waste. The study focused on Vientiane capital as an area study and divided into 2 zone such as metropolitan and urbanized area of their opinion and aware of plastic pollution in environment therefore the online questionnaire turns into an important instrument and with the application of the statistical analyses such as Frequency, descriptive, Linear Regression, Independent sample t-test and Likert scale to evaluate the opinion of people from 2 zone on plastic management. Result from the models revealed that the relationship between the population growth and plastic waste generated amount which forecast the amount of plastic waste from 2020-2030 will reach to 492577 in 2030 without generation rate. When it assumes to be increased for 2%, 4%, 5%, the plastic will be 5024.88, 51228.04, 51720.61 respectively. However, there is only 427.15 ton/year of plastic that input in the recycling company, 1549.44 ton/year from recyclable material from landfill and the remaining are dump into the landfill (approximately 38229.56) of non-recyclable materials. All in all, the investigate of people’s attitude on plastic pollution illustrates the understanding and aware of people which it is moderate. However, there are 3 question that slightly significant between 2 group of their opinion such as reuse plastic is good, avoiding to dump plastic after using and plastic thrown does damage the environment which reveal the metropolitan is strongly agree on this question while urbanized is against these opinions which considered as moderate.
