AbstractThe furniture industry's workflow is a linear economy. It's a traditional way of doing business that uses resources to produce and, at the end of its useful life, product is discarded or disposed of without being reused, causing waste and subsequent environmental problems. In addition, Thailand, in the outdoor furniture industry, especially synthetic rattan, which is used as a substitute for natural rattan, a lot of plastic is created because the use of plastic is more durable. Upcycling is the recycling of waste by incorporating technology and innovation, turning waste into new products with better quality along with extending the lifespan of plastic pellets and make the appearance more appealing to modern consumers in accordance with the Circular Economy and lowers the carbon footprint of the product. This research will illustrate the methodology of upcycling plastic waste to sustainable resin wicker for being the substitute material in the production of rattan outdoor furniture. In addition, this study also demonstrates the feasibility of upcycled resin wicker on market and the possibility of reducing plastic of the use of sustainable resin wicker.
