Abstract3D printing mortars have recently been more prominent which can help in reducing costs, bring sustainability, and increased functionality. Many factors affect and control the relia bility and working of the mortar or the cementitious mixtures used in the material. This study focuses on the development of a mixture proportion for extruded mortar and controlling the setting and hardened properties of the mortar. The experiment is to investigate the perfor mance of the extruded mortar in the lab using a syringe and then print out a small structure using a 3D printer machine. The fresh properties of the mortar which is required for 3D printing mortar are investigated such as extrudability, buildability, open time, slump flow, and setting time. The hardened properties such as compressive strength, flexural strength, and drying shrink age are investigated. The research focused on the maximum size of aggregate of 1.18 mm with the addition of 0.62% Mighty Mix 150SA (high range water reducer) and Sand to Binder ratio of 1.24. The replacement of Silica Fume and the addition of Sika RapidĀ® (ac celerator) provided satisfactory performance. Small structures were built using the mortar which reached the pre-set target.
