Abstract | Linear modulation methods posses good spectral efficiency suitable for future land
mobile communications. However, their fluctuating envelopes in conjunction with
typically nonlinear power amplifiers, lead to spectral spreading and adjacent channel
interference. Best solution of this problem is linearization of the power amplifier with
predistortion. The predistorter must be adaptive to cope with the variation in amplifier
characteristics. This paper presents a new adaptive predistortion algorithm that is
particularly well suited to baseband implementation with Digital signal processor (DSP)
hardware. This algorithm makes a direct approach for the solution of nonlinearity with
statistical method using polynomial regression. A object-oriented simulation of the
proposed algorithm is done in Quicksig. The improvement obtained is very good and
better than previous methods in most of the cases |
